Community Engagement Orientations
Community Engagement Orientations
Our new Community Engagement Orientation program is designed for all Spartan students to gain a better understanding of what becoming an engaged citizen means. The Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement strives to create an atmosphere where Spartans can learn, grow and engage in the local community. We want to help students find their passions through service, while understanding the importance of becoming an engaged citizen.
The Community Engagement Orientation will cover topics such as:
- The history of the CSLCE, and ways to get involved with service organizations on campus.
- How to gain access to more than 300 community partners in the greater Lansing area through our volunteer matching system GiveGab.
- Tips about professionalism, expectations at the volunteer site, becoming a T-Shaped student, and more...
- We will engage in reflection activities to get you thinking about the importance of service.
- Ultimately, we hope to answer questions and increase your comfort level as you venture out into the community to serve.
