Alternative Spartan Break (ASB) is gearing up for some exciting trips this year. Our three Winter trips are scheduled for December 13-20, 2014. Applications are due October 5th. Our Spring trips are scheduled for March 7-14, 2015. Applications are due October 26, 2014.

The Michigan Engaged Campus of the Year Award recognizes institutions of higher education for exemplary commitment to being an “engaged campus.” Applicants are judged according to criteria expressed in Campus Compact’s Indicators of Engagement.
As of July 15, Renee Zientek became the new director of The Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement. With 20 years of experience in higher education and the nonprofit sector, Renee Zientek has been named the new director of Michigan State University’s Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement.
Applications to serve as an advisor for an Alternative Spartan Break over Winter or Spring breaks are now live! More than 20 different trip options working on an array of new social justice issues are being offered this year.
Thank you to all in the MSU community who donated items, volunteered their time, or otherwise assisted with the Fill the Bus fall welcome philanthropy drive! As a community, we collected more than 250 bags of school supplies, health and hygiene items, and nonperishable food for local organizations in the greater Lansing area. Way to go!
